Do you sometimes feel that your face seems to have lost the ability to bounce back after a late night - or one too many glasses of wine the night before?
I find it really noticeable around my eye area; I look puffy or shadowy, or both, for days. Is this the beginning of something permanent, I wonder - the inexorable morphing into my new older face? Or is it a temporary thing that will right itself with a detox or a few early nights? Hoping it's the latter, I'm going to try a credit crunch-busting tip from holistic beauty therapist Bharti Vyas, creator of the skin wisdom range.
According to Bharti, a traditional Ayurvedic remedy for dark circles and puffiness is to hold a cold compress (try cotton wool) soaked in milk on the eye area for a couple of minutes twice a day, as the lactic acid in milk helps to brighten and freshen the skin. That'll be an extra pin for me then please! A sa back-up I'm also testing Instant Lightening Eye Cream, £16 from Good Skin (exclusive to and flying out of Superdrug), and feel sure I can already detect some puffiness deflation and shadow reduction. Hope in a tube!
Other tips for reducing eye puffiness have been to run two silver spoons under cold water then lightly press against the eye area. Other tips I have personally tried have been tea bags! Yes that's right when you finish with making your tea, stick the tea bag in the fridge and wait for it to cool. In the morning apply one to each eye for 2 minutes, apparently its the caffeine in them that helps to depuff you!
Get a spray tan! Not only will you look a million pounds after you have one but your skin will look firmer, tighter and with a much more even skin tone. Ensure you find yourself a good therapist and pay attention to the pre and post tan advice, such as exfoliation and moisturising. It doesn't have to just be for a social event or special occasion, many people now get a spray tan done weekly. It is an instant mood elevator without the harmful risks of laying in the sun.
Need an instant face mask one night and don't want to run out to the shops, get in the kitchen and use an egg white! Not only is this treatment cheap it also works! It will give you an instant firmer face and will help to minimize pores. Just make sure you use a nice moisturizer once you remove the egg white as it can make the skin feel dry.
